Hanging out in the ci-tay tonight.... my oh my... you know I get slightly shell-shocked when I get into the big city from the island.... Porsches, Mercedes, BMWs.... gladiator sandals on tiny ladies...amazing UBC student greek deliciousness.....I actually caught myself saying "I'm not even sure when the last time was that I saw this many young people....wow....".....

There is SO much life here!!  So much excitement and colour and smiles and frowns and crying and kissing... yes sneaking a kiss on the street corner while waiting for the intermittent orange hand to switch to an angelic thin man... that's my favourite...and lovely friends :)

Sometimes it just takes my breath away....

So, I've decided after starting to create this blog 2.5 years ago... *blush* .... that maybe it's time to get it up and running! I do need some help though with making it shiny and nifty!  Any help, just shout it out!

I've been living out here in beautiful British Columbia now for just about that length of time, 2.5 years, just a bit over that..... and it is stunningly beautiful! Even more so, I am so fortunate to have come across a gem of an island... Quadra Island.  This is a small"ish" island off the East Coast of Vancouver Island.  We have around 2000 people that live here..... so the locals inform me.

The point of this blog is to keep my friends and family in the loop of my doings :)  I seem to be notorious for not keeping the best of contacts lately.....

I have been honoured to work in Aboriginal communities here around traditional foods and traditional food practices... I've attached a few pictures of some of the events that have happened recently.. any questions, please ask :)

I am embarking on a new adventure this week, and I was wishing for a way to share my experience.  Next Saturday, I will be soaring to West Virginia... actually I will be soaring to Washington DC, where I will stay an evening then jump on a train to West Virginia the next day.  I am going to West Virginia to attend a learning opportunity on Humanistic Medicine at the Gesundheit Institute... www.patchadams.org     *check it out!*...

I'm thinking that this is going to be an absolutely amazing opportunity and will have lots to share!  So, pardon my excitement and hopefully I can convey some of the wisdom I learn to you all.
